Secondary process

Aspects of ourselves that we, as individuals or groups prefer not to identify with. Often we project these aspects onto people we view as “other.” We may marginalize or admire these qualities, creating inferior or superior traits in other groups.

Sentience

Social activist

A role that advocates for a disavowed part of the group.

Sexism

Discrimination against someone on grounds of gender, and offensive, stereotyping or patronizing behavior towards someone on grounds of gender. Originally, sexism was only recognized when against women. It is now also used when men are stereotyped etc. but this extension to men is contentious, in a society in which men still have social rank.
