Refers to the increasing global
connectivity, integration and interdependence in the economic,
social, technological,cultural, political, and ecological spheres.
Often it is taken to mean a decrease in diversity and increase
in standardization particularly in economics for example the
global presence of companies such as MacDonald’s and Coca Cola. In addition, more positively
the influence the internet has had on campaigning and direct
action groups’ ability to network and share information.
